A new home in Seattle is described as having a cutting-edge combination of green technology, renewables and reclaimed materials. It is designed by Dwell Development to be Built Green Emerald Star certified. If the certification is awarded, it will be be the first home of its kind in the city.

The First and Only River-themed Wildlife Park in Asia: River Safari by DP Architects

Designed by DP Architects, this project is located Mandai, Singapore. While a modern metropolis such as Singapore offers many amenities and conveniences, there are times when people seek respite from urban life and a chance to interact with nature. River Safari is the first and only river-themed wildlife park in Asia, hosting Southeast Asia’s largest panda exhibit and the world’s largest freshwater aquarium. It is not just a collection of wildlife exhibits, but blends the animal habitats into a natural setting – immersing guests and animals in the same landscape. It allows people to observe how animals live in the wild and to establish an open, authentic connection with the animals, yet offering the same safety benefits of a more traditional enclosure. Sited along the Upper Seletar Reservoir and nestled between Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, this 12ha attraction features animals representing eight freshwater habitats from around the world – Amazon, Congo, Ganges, Mekong, Mississippi, Murray, Nile and Yangtze rivers. On arrival, visitors are led by a covered walkway to the entrance plaza. In response to the need to provide human scale, the architects incorporated a series of two-storey huts at the entrance.

Contemporary Comfort At The Temozón House in Yucatan, Mexico

Designed by Carrillo Arquitectos y Asociados, the Temozón House was built in 2013 in Yucatan, Mexico. The architects imagined a stunning cantilevered home built on a trapezoidal plot. Located in Temozón Yucatán in a residential area, the house has 60 meter long side faces east and its 39 meter long side faces north. Spreading over 1,167 square meters, this cantilevered home was named the Temozón House after its location. The street facade showcases little of what is to be found inside. Initially designing a home with an L-shaped floor-plan, architects took a better look at the possibilities and changed the result. And when I say inside, I mean in this captivating indoor-outdoor environment. The space of the house is intended to create an environment in which the family is not confined between walls, but the outside is integrated with the interior, merged together as a single environment, highlighting the views generated by the different spaces.
